Volunteers’ Week has been celebrated every year since 1984. Coincidentally, this is also when our charity’s journey began. From the very beginning, we’ve been a grassroots movement that believed in the power of volunteers. We’ve seen the real impact of people in the community helping others. Today, more than ever, we want to shine a spotlight on the invaluable impact of volunteering across Bedfordshire.
Community Champions
The truth is, without volunteers, many causes would not be possible. They enable vital services that give families a safety net, often strengthening or filling gaps in public services. Without volunteers, the problems they were fixing wouldn’t just disappear. Instead, families would fall through the gaps, and problems would escalate into deep community crises. That’s why volunteers are at the heart of a strong community.
For Home-Start Bedfordshire and the families we serve, calling our volunteers heroic isn’t an overstatement; it’s the reality. Our volunteers offer support in so many ways, reaching families who might not otherwise get help. We see their impact every day, empowering local families and bringing smiles to children.
