To our volunteers, trustees, donors and supporters, past and present, thank you. Thanks to you, we celebrate 40 years of supporting families with young children in Bedfordshire.
In 1984, our charity formed to:
- Protect the good health of children and parents.
- Prevent cruelty or maltreatment of children.
- Relieve sickness, poverty and need amongst children and parents.
- Promote better standards of childcare.
Four decades later, we’ve witnessed too many heart-wrenching stories. Parents doing the best they can in times of fear, suffering, loss, and injustice. Yet, with support from our community, we’ve seen families cope through times of hardship and children thrive.
Thousands of Families
Volunteers for our home-visiting service, just you alone have helped thousands of local families in crisis. It’s a wonder to consider many of the children you once played with will now have families of their own. The same can be said for children benefiting from our other services.
It’s said age is just a number, but our county has changed significantly since we began. There are now more parents and more children than before. Some issues in our society affecting young children and parents have improved. More have grown. Others have become more apparent. Few are new.
Whilst there is a need for Home-Start, we can’t stop. As we mark the 40-year milestone, we renew our unwavering commitment to nurturing children and supporting parents. Our charity will continue to adapt to the evolving needs of families, expanding our reach and refining our programmes to ensure support for generations to come. We will help parents protect childhood because childhood can’t wait.
