Do you have a child with SEND?
Being a parent of a child with SEND can be a rewarding but lonely place to be. You may not know where to get information about the condition, how to access further support or simply what to do. You may be struggling, feeling that your child is different, and you are too.
SEND Parent Mentor Service
Trained mentors, who have experience parenting children with SEND, volunteer their time to offer one-to-one support to local parents with children with additional needs (a diagnosis is not needed). Support is free, confidential and will be tailored to your needs but could include…
- Emotional support and someone to talk to who ‘gets it’.
- Help and guidance with navigating the pathways to access Neurodevelopmental services such as CAMHS, paediatricians and speech and language services.
- Help with finding other support services such as SENDIASS and specialist organisations.
Support is provided via phone or online over a period of usually six weeks. You will have a coordinator assisting both you and your mentor throughout.
Remember, you choose whether or not to accept Home-Start support and can change your mind anytime.
