At our Parent Group Leader training, you will:

  • Learn to lead a parenting course for local parents and carers of children.
  • Share tried and tested methods that give children the best start in life.
  • Develop your skills, confidence and CV.
  • Be supported every step of the way.

Why Volunteer As A Parent Group Leader?

There are many reasons to become a Parent Group Leader, including:

  • You’d like to learn group facilitator skills and gain experience with small groups online.
  • You want a rewarding way to spend some free time, teaching parents skills to improve the quality of their interactions with their children.
  • You’d like to help others in your community. The Being A Parent course helps local parents grow in confidence and make families more resilient.
  • Perhaps you have experience parenting an autistic child. If you do, you could choose to lead groups for the Being a Parent of an Autistic Child course.
  • Upon completion, access to other training opportunities at Home-Start Bedfordshire, including safeguarding children.

Do I Need Any Qualifications?

No. To volunteer as a Parent Group Leader, you only need to have parenting experience (i.e. You are a parent, step-parent, grandparent, or foster parent).

Will I Get Training?

Yes. You will receive accredited Empowering Parents Empowering Communities (EPEC) training. EPEC is an evidence-based, highly successful parenting programme that combines the latest developmental science, theory and parenting strategies.

Training is free and delivered online. Following your training, you’ll have ongoing one-to-one support and supervision while leading the Being A Parent course with small groups of local parents online. We are here to support you every step of the way.
